“I don’t understand why people want a gay Disney prince/princess. Disney represents classic ideals and “old-fashioned” values. Having an LGBT character doesn’t support that. And frankly, I like it better that way.”

Who the fuck is this bitch and can I kill them? I realise that everyone is intitled to their opinion be the other reason for Disney is to accept everyone and show that inner beauty is the most important thing. BEING YOURSELF if most important than being what peple though was right back in the 50’s.
There should be a Disney movie for everyone to relate to. It doesn’t have to come now, or even in the next 10 years, but eventually there needs to be a movie that allows LGBT youth to identify with and show them that being THEMSELVES is just fine.
THATS why we want an LGBT Disney movie. To belong to something that the whole world can relate to.

*sigh* Alright. I’m going to use this to make a point.
Notice that this argument is quite well structured and well put. Then notice something else.
“Who the fuck is this bitch and can I kill them?”
That right there? Does not make a good argument. It only makes someone stoop down to the level of anybody else that generates hatred. (I mean no offense to this particular person. They are not the only one that posted something like this by any means, but I am using it for this particular rant). With something like that ANYWHERE in anyones’ argument, one sounds childish, whiny, and unable to make a valid point. One is allowed to have a different opinion, and one is definately allowed to debate, but would I ever take someone seriously with a statement/question like that? No.
If someone wants to be heard, be mature. Otherwise, keep quiet and let the grownups do the talking.
(On another note, I agree partways with this confession. I do not feel that Disney would be able to make an LGBT movie. I personally can’t think of a story where it would work. If Disney can, then good for them, and I’m not saying they shouldn’t. I, personally, don’t see it happening.)

Sure. An LGBT character would allow for LGBT teenagers+ to have a Disney movie to relate to (something they so desperately need. But Disney movies aren’t made for teenagers. Disney movies have a target audience of little kids, people that shouldn’t even know what sex is, let alone sexual orientation. Imagine you’re a parent. Now imagine having to explain to your young child why the Princess was kissing the Princess, or why the Prince was kissing the Prince.

The future

June 23, 2011 at 12:12 PM

I was looking through books on the barnes and noble website today and a thought hit me. What if my kid doesn’t like reading? Hate writing? The thought really scared me because I can’t imagine a person going through life without at least a passing interest in reading. So I know what I’m going to do. When they’re old enough, I’ll buy that special paint that turns walls into a dry erase marker and paint their whole room with it and give them dry erase markers. Their room will be their own creative spot. They can fill their walls with their words. Their thoughts. Their dreams. It will be theirs.

I can feel them welling up inside of me, the tears. They lie just below the surface. Even know I have to fight them back and tell myself its not real. Tomorrow is going to be hell, and its only going to get worse from there on.

Right now is one of those very rare, very depressing moments where I feel disconnected from the World. The kind of moment where I just want to lay here and stare at the ceiling. If I knew how to play my bass I would, but I don’t so I won’t. I know you hate these kinds of moods I get in love, but I can’t help it. Years of bottling emotions has this effect.

That awkward moment when someone uses the phrase, “let’s get down to business” and now all you want to do is defeat the huns.
